Two Killed, Others Injured As Police, Hunters Go After Killers Of Edo Catholic Priest

One suspected member of the abductors of Rev Father Christopher Odia, parish priest of St Michael Catholic church, lkhabigbo, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, has been killed.

Stonix News had reported that Rev Father Odia was abducted in his rectory while going for Sunday Mass in the wee hours of Sunday June 26, 2022, but was later found dead same day.

In a statement signed by Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Edo State Police Command, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, a hunter, Nurudeen, who was among the team that went after the abductors, also meet his death. 

“A combined Team of Police Tactical Teams, Jattu Divisional Police operatives and the local Vigilante team,led by the Divisional Police Officer, went into the forest with a view to rescue the catholic priest.

“In frustration, the kidnapped Rev Father Christopher Odia was killed by his abductors.

“A Hunter identified as Mr Nurudeen was also shot dead in the process while the Police personnel who went on the trail of the kidnappers decimated one of them.

“Other gang members escaped with various gun shot injuries.

‘Intensive bush combing is ongoing towards ensuring that those who escaped are arrested and made to face justice,” she noted.
