AN 85-year-old woman was killed by an alligator in southeast Florida, wildlife officials revealed.
Stonix News gathered that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), alongside officers from St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, responded to a 911 emergency call about an alligator bite in St. Lucie, Florida.
The spokesperson of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Arielle Callendar, during an exclusive interview with a source, confirmed that the woman was with her dog when the incident happened, but the dog survived.
According to reports, the alligator grabbed the woman’s dog, and when she tried to get the dog back, she fell victim to the 11-feet long predator.
During the rescue operation, the woman’s body was recovered, while the alligator involved was captured by an alligator trapper.
“Serious injuries caused by alligators are rare in the state of Florida.
“The FWC places the highest priority on public safety and administers a Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program (SNAP) to address complaints concerning specific alligators believed to pose a threat to people, pets or property.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim,” the FWC statement reads.
