Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested one of the wanted suspects who escaped from the Medium Security Correctional Centre, Kuje, following an attack on the facility by gunmen last week in Abuja.
This was contained in a statement issued to Stonix News by the Agency’s Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi on Thursday, July 14.
The fleeing suspect, Suleiman Sidi, was arrested in the early hours of Monday, July 11 at a motorpark while attempting to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri, Borno State
Three cannabis sativa were found on him when he was searched, the statement noted.
Admitting to be one of the inmates who escaped from the Correctional Facility on Tuesday, Sidi confirmed that he was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre for terrorism and robbery charges when he was interviewed.
While commending the officers and men of the FCT Command of the Agency for the arrest and their vigilance, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa has ordered the wanted suspect to be handed over to the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS.
