The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has, on Tuesday, sought the collaboration of the Department of State Services (DSS) and 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in the fight against criminality in the state.
The alliance was sought during his courtesy visit to the DSS Director, Mr. Ademola Adebiyi and the Brigade Commander 63 Brigade, General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, in Asaba, Delta State.
This was contained in a statement issues by the Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright, and made available to Stonix News.
According to the statement, the visit to both security agencies was important to enhance the fight against crime and criminality in the State and as such it is necessary to solicit support, collaboration, and partnership with the 63 Brigade and the DSS.
It was stated that the CP was welcomed by both agencies with a promise by the DSS to synergize with the Command while restating that the Police Command has been enjoying a peaceful relationship with DSS in the State and promised to extend the same gesture to the Command under the leadership of the CP Abaniwonda Olufemi.
“As part of the effort to foster the relationship between the Command and other security agencies, the Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi Today 27th February 2024, paid a courtesy call on the Commander 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Ugochukwu V. Unachukwu at the 63 Brigade Headquarters in Asaba. The CP was warmly received by the Brigade Commander and staff officers of the Brigade.
“The CP in his remark stated that it is important to pay the courtesy visit as the Brigade is a very important stakeholder in the fight against crime and criminality in the State and as such it is necessary to solicit support, collaboration, and partnership with the 63 Brigade.
“The CP also earlier visited the Delta State Director DSS Mr. Ademola C. Adebiyi fsi, mni, and sought collaboration in the fight against criminal elements especially in the area of intelligence.
“The Commissioner and members of his management were warmly received and the Director promised to synergize with the Command while reiterating that the Police Command has been enjoying a peaceful relationship with DSS in the State and promised to extend the same gesture to the Command under the leadership of the CP Abaniwonda Olufemi,” the statement read in part.
