A Special Force Squad of the Nigerian Navy Base, Onitsha, on Friday, went on a sting operation at Ochan Forest, a kidnappers’ den in Anambra State, killing 10.
The naval operatives also arrested five suspected kidnappers, while others escaped with bullet wounds.
Leader of the naval team, Suleiman Agabi, while parading the suspects at the naval base in Onitsha of Friday, said the command, based on intelligence gathering, stormed the kidnappers’ hideouts at about 1:20a.m on Friday.
Agabi confirmed that the suspected kidnappers were the masterminds of the abduction of the traditional ruler of Ogwaniocha community in Anambra State, Igwe Oliver Nnaji, who was kidnapped on November 15, 2021.
“The suspects are making confessional statements in connection to the abduction of the monarch,” he noted, while calling on the public to keep availing security operatives more intelligence to ensure a safe haven.
