Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF), North East Operation Hadin Kai, have neutralised nine Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of the JTF, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the operations were conducted in line with the recent directive of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who had urged troops to sustain pressure on terrorist remnants through aggressive clearance and offensive actions across all fronts.

As part of the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity IV, troops of Sector 1, in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged ISWAP terrorists on 12 November 2025 at Yanaga Ari, Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State. During the encounter, nine terrorists were neutralised, while five AK-47 rifles, several rounds of ammunition, and other logistics items were recovered.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and swift response, urging them to remain vigilant and committed to restoring lasting peace in the North East.

Members of the public were also encouraged to continue providing the Armed Forces with timely and credible information to aid ongoing counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations across the region.
