In a condolence message released by the Office of the Speaker, Science Students House of Assembly (SSHA), the union described the loss as deeply sorrowful, extending heartfelt sympathies to the deceased’s family, friends, classmates, and the entire Environmental Management and Toxicology Students Association (EMTSA).

‎”We pray that Almighty God grants his family and loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss and grants the departed eternal rest,” the statement read.

The tragedy has prompted a broader call for introspection within the student body. In its message, the SSHA urged all students to embrace the values of peace, tolerance, dialogue, and mutual respect, emphasising that no disagreement or moment of anger is worth the loss of a human life.

“Violence should never be an option in resolving conflicts. Let us always seek peaceful and lawful means of addressing our differences,” the union appealed.

‎Meanwhile, in a related development aimed at fostering a more harmonious academic environment, the Office of the Vice President of the Students’ Union Government has summoned all College Vice Presidents, Departmental Vice Presidents, Tribal Association Vice Presidents, and Social Directors to a strategic stakeholders’ meeting.

‎Scheduled for Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, at 4:00 pm in the SUG Hall, the meeting is designed to strengthen collaboration and coordination among all student bodies, particularly regarding the harmonisation and scheduling of forthcoming activities for the semester.

‎Key discussions are expected to centre on proposed dates and the proper coordination of activities, including Dinner and Award Nights, Cultural Day Celebrations, Departmental and Association Programmes, and other social and academic events.

‎The union noted that the initiative is necessary to ensure a well-organised academic environment, prevent clashes of activities, and promote the smooth administration of student affairs before the commencement of examinations.

All departments, colleges, and associations have been strongly encouraged to accord the meeting the seriousness it deserves by ensuring adequate representation and punctual attendance.

The union stressed that cooperation and commitment towards fostering unity, orderliness, and effective coordination within the students’ community would be highly appreciated.

‎As the university community continues to grapple with the loss of Joseph Ebireri, the upcoming meeting signals a determined effort by student leaders to prevent future tragedies and build a more cohesive and peaceful campus environment.
