PRESIDENT Donald Trump announced on Monday that he’s terminating Secret Service protection for Joe Biden’s two adult children, Hunter and Ashley Biden.
Trump made the declaration on Truth Social, stating that the protection would be revoked effective immediately.
According to Trump, Hunter Biden had been vacationing in South Africa, a country with questionable human rights, and had enjoyed Secret Service protection for an extended period, all paid for by American taxpayers.

Trump deemed this “ridiculous,” citing that Hunter’s detail consisted of up to 18 people.
A Secret Service official confirmed that the agency was aware of Trump’s decision and would comply, working to ensure a smooth transition.
It’s worth noting that, under federal law, former presidents and their spouses receive lifetime security protection, unless they opt out. The Secret Service also protects former presidents’ children until age 16 after leaving office.
While it’s common for family members to receive protection for a certain period, the duration can vary.
For instance, Joe Biden extended security protections for his adult children until July, and previously, Biden had granted six-month protection to Trump’s adult children after Trump’s first term ended.
Trump has a history of terminating security protections, having removed Secret Service details for Dr. Anthony Fauci and John Bolton in January.

Trump justified these actions, stating that security details can’t be permanent.
