FEMI Oyetola, son of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has distributed N15 million to 300 widows and elderly persons across the Osun Central Senatorial District.
The event, held in Osogbo on Thursday, saw each beneficiary receive N50,000 as financial support to cushion the effects of prevailing economic hardship and improve their livelihoods.
Speaking on behalf of Femi Oyetola, former Senior Special Assistant to the Osun Governor on Students’ Affairs and Social Mobilisation, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji, stated that the initiative was designed to support vulnerable members of society and demonstrate compassion to those in need.
He explained that the gesture formed part of activities lined up for Femi Oyetola’s birthday celebration, adding that beneficiaries were drawn from the 10 local government areas comprising the Osun Central Senatorial District, with 30 widows and elderly persons selected from each local government.
“We must continue to prioritise the love for the aged and care for them at any given time,” Ayantunji said. “I have always kept them in mind at all times. During festive seasons, I give food packages to vulnerable households; this will cushion the effect of the harsh economic realities they might be facing.”
He noted that the event was conducted in partnership with the Ileri-Oluwa initiative, which has long existed in the state and made tremendous impact on the welfare of Osun citizens.
Expressing optimism regarding the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, Ayantunji added: “I can assure you that Bola Oyebamiji is gender sensitive, and his campaign council is also following suit. If you look at Osun’s voting pattern, women hold a larger percentage of the voting population, which is why we value and cherish them and are mobilising them every day to ensure they are part and parcel of our campaign. As of today, we already have the larger percentage, and they will vote for the candidate of our party.”
Earlier, Osun State President of Widows, Mrs Afolabi Olanrewaju, pledged to mobilise support for the APC gubernatorial candidate to secure his victory on August 15, 2026.
