Rape Allegation: Ogun Govt Backs Allegation Probe

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

THE Ogun State Government has launched a coordinated response and visited a hospitalised TikToker, Mirabel who alleged she was raped in the Ogijo area of the state.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, stating that the government had activated a multi-sectoral intervention following the allegation.

According to her, the content creator, identified as Mirabel (@mirab351), has been admitted to a state-owned health facility, where she is receiving comprehensive medical care and psychosocial support, while investigations are ongoing.

The Tiktoker posted a video that went viral alleging that she was brutally molested and raped on Sunday, February 15th.

In the statement, Adeleye said the victim was responding positively to treatment, adding that the hospital visit was to assess her condition and ensure that appropriate medical and welfare interventions were being promptly administered.

She explained that detailed examinations and required clinical procedures were being carried out in line with established standards for handling cases of alleged sexual assault, while security agencies conduct investigations.

“The welfare, dignity and safety of every survivor remain our utmost priority. The Dapo Abiodun-led administration maintains a zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence,” the commissioner said.

She, however, stressed that the government remained committed to due process.

“While we stand firmly with survivors, investigations must be evidence-based, transparent and fair to all parties involved. Whoever is found wanting will face the full weight of the law,” she added.

The commissioner commended the Ogun State Police Command for its prompt action after the case was transferred from Lagos State authorities.

She also praised the swift response of the medical team and the State Ministry of Justice.

Adeleye urged the public to avoid speculative narratives or sensational commentary capable of undermining ongoing investigations, assuring that further updates would be provided as credible findings emerge.

The allegation, which surfaced in a viral social media video, sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for swift justice and stronger protection for survivors of sexual violence.
