Peace Group Endorses Chief Mulade Sheriff for Warri Federal Constituency Seat

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

WARRI — With the 2027 general elections drawing nearer, a pressure group, Warri Peace Ambassadors, has thrown its weight behind leading House of Representatives aspirant Chief Mulade Sheriff, PhD, urging unity among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo ethnic nationalities.

The group made the endorsement at a briefing in Warri on Wednesday, describing the forthcoming election as a “golden opportunity” for citizens to choose competent, credible leaders capable of representing their true interests.

“For us, the Warri Peace Ambassadors, the 2027 general elections is not just another season of electioneering,” the group said in a statement. “We are committed to performing our civic duty of mobilising and voting credible political leaders at the different strata of government. Chief Sheriff Mulade is the right choice for the Warri Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly.”

Mrs Tessy Oki, president of the group, and Mr Friday Ugedi, secretary, said they had carefully assessed the contenders vying for the seat before settling on Chief Mulade.

“Our position of advocating for support for Chief Mulade is centred on his long years of grassroots advocacy for the people of the Warri Federal Constituency and beyond,” the leaders stated. “His antecedents speak louder. He is a household name at the grassroots and a leader who is easily accessible to members of his constituents.”

The group particularly highlighted Chief Mulade’s role as a United Nations peace ambassador and bridge builder, noting that he has used sports and education to foster harmony among the three major ethnic groups in the constituency.

“Chief Mulade stands for peaceful coexistence among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo ethnic nationalities in the Warri Federal Constituency,” the statement added.

The Warri Peace Ambassadors called on supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to turn out en masse for the aspirant.

“This is not a call based on sentiment, but one centred on competence, capability, exposure and practical field knowledge to deliver efficient and effective representation to the people of Warri Federal Constituency,” the group concluded. “Warri residents should not miss this golden opportunity once presented to them. It is time for a positive change.”
