Dr. Sarah Nwinee Of PTI Wins 2026 SPE Africa Region Public Service Award

THE SPE Africa Region has announced Dr. Sarah Nwinee of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Nigeria, as a recipient of the 2026 SPE Africa Region Public Service Award.

According to the award citation, “Dr. Nwinee is a distinguished leader in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry whose impact spans research, training, consultancy, and strategic collaboration between academia and industry.”

The SPE Africa Region further stated: “Through her leadership in Linkages, Exchange, and Partnerships, she has advanced meaningful initiatives that strengthen professional development and knowledge exchange across the energy sector.”

The citation also highlights her advocacy work: “A passionate advocate for inclusion and empowerment, Dr. Nwinee has also demonstrated remarkable commitment to gender equity through her service as WEOG Delta State Chair, inspiring the next generation of women professionals in energy.”

SPE Africa Region explained the significance of the honour: “Her recognition reflects SPE Africa Region’s continued commitment to honouring professionals whose service, leadership, and dedication are shaping the future of Africa’s energy landscape.”

Award presentation details

The award presentation will take place during the SPE Africa Technology Conference 2026, scheduled for 16–18 June 2026 at the Radisson Blu Hotel Abidjan Airport in Abidjan.

The conference, the organisers said, “will bring together industry leaders, technical experts, young professionals, policymakers, and innovators from across the continent to discuss transformative solutions for Africa’s energy future under the SPE vision of ‘Solutions. People. Energy.’”

SPE Africa Region extended an invitation to the industry: “Join us in celebrating Dr. Sarah Nwinee and other outstanding professionals whose contributions continue to advance excellence, innovation, and collaboration in Africa’s oil and gas industry.”

Dr. Nwinee is identified in the materials as Sarah A. Nwinee, Ph.D, FCSN – Petroleum Training Institute Nigeria.

The award carries the SPE Africa Region’s signature theme: Solutions. People. Energy.™, and names her as SPE AFRICA REGION AWARDEE 2026.
