23-Year-Old Nursing Student Killed By Her Landlord in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has taken a landlord into custody for questioning following the suspected killing of a 23-year-old nursing student in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, saying the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered an accelerated investigation into the tragic incident.

According to the statement, the case has been transferred from the Nnobi Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for a comprehensive and discreet probe.

The victim’s lifeless body was reportedly discovered on June 14, 2026, within the compound where she lived as a tenant. Police officers who visited the scene observed a deep cut on her thigh, other signs of violence on her body, and blood stains around the area, raising strong suspicions of foul play.

Further investigations identified the deceased as a student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor.

Ikenga said the landlord of the property has been detained and is currently being interrogated as part of ongoing efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.

The victim’s body has been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and an autopsy.

CP Orutugu directed investigators to conduct a thorough and professional inquiry, stressing that no stone should be left unturned in identifying and prosecuting anyone found responsible.
