THE General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, has called on Nigerians to turn to God for divine intervention in tackling the nation’s worsening insecurity crisis.
Speaking to journalists after a courtesy visit to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia—represented by his deputy, Sam Ode—at the Government House, the renowned cleric insisted that God remains the ultimate solution to the country’s challenges.
“We know that when bad things happen, there are people who are responsible for it, but the people are not the solution. God is our problem solver,” Pastor Kumuyi declared.
He added: “God is waiting for us. He said, ‘If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and turn away from their sins,’ He is ready to solve their problems.”
The visit formed part of activities lined up for the week-long Global Crusade in Gboko and Otukpo Local Government Areas of Benue State, which Kumuyi described as an initiative to encourage citizens to return to God and seek His help.
The cleric also praised the progress recorded in Benue State, stating: “Benue is making remarkable progress in infrastructure and education, despite visible challenges around insecurity.”
Deputy Governor Sam Ode, speaking during the visit, said Benue is richly endowed with agricultural and human resources, adding that the Alia administration remains committed to building a peaceful, united and inclusive state where everyone can thrive.
The Global Crusade comes on the heels of Benue State’s 50th anniversary celebration, during which the government called on citizens to embrace peace and reconciliation.
Benue remains among the states hardest hit by insecurity in recent years, with repeated attacks on communities by armed assailants forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes.
Many displaced persons are still living in camps across the state, whilst government and security agencies continue their efforts to restore peace and facilitate the return of affected communities.
