Urgent Appeal To Tunji-Ojo As NIS Portal Fails To Acknowledge N52,000 Passport Payment For Minor

AN urgent appeal has been made to the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, over the Nigerian Immigration Service’s (NIS) failure to acknowledge a N52,000 payment for the 32-page international passport of a minor, Sharon DideOluwa Adurokiya.

According to the complaint, the passport application fee was paid on 29 August 2025 via Paystack, with a successful transaction notification and receipt issued to the applicant’s father’s email.

However, due to network instability at the time of payment, attempts to print the application slip and schedule a biometric capturing date were unsuccessful.

By the following day, 30 August 2025, the NIS portal reportedly became barely accessible.

Since then, all efforts to book a capturing appointment have failed, while the application status on the portal continues to display “UNPAID”, despite evidence of successful payment.

The family said officers at the NIS Agodi office in Ibadan, Oyo State, advised them to lodge a complaint with support@newworkssolution.com, which was done. No response has been received to date.

Further escalation to Paystack on 4 September 2025 via email reportedly confirmed that the payment was successful.

Paystack advised the family to contact the Upperlink NIS Collections Team with Reference Number: 0997711758 to trace the transaction.

Paystack also indicated that it copied Upperlink in its correspondence to provide context and expedite resolution.

Despite this, the Upperlink NIS Collections Team has neither acknowledged the payment nor facilitated booking for biometric capturing.

With the minor due to return to school by 11 January, the family is appealing for immediate ministerial intervention to avert further delay and hardship, knowing full well that N52, 000 at a time the economy is hard on citizens is no little money.

They are urging the Minister of Interior to direct the relevant NIS and Upperlink units to urgently reconcile the payment and enable biometric capturing without further delay.

Applicant details are as follows:

Name: Sharon DideOluwa Adurokiya

Age: 15

NIS Application ID: 617478075707

NIS Reference Number: 20258705960

Mobile Number: 08060113609.

Screenshots of the application, Paystack transaction and email correspondence with Paystack and Upperlink are available to support the claim.

The family insists that swift action is critical, given the applicant’s age and the impending school resumption date.

Stonix News reports that several other applicants have similar complaints forwarded to the service which have not been attended to without any reasonable explanation with unconfirmed feelers that the payments may eventually not yield the desired results.
