‘I Won’t Be a Sitting Duck,’ Omo-Agege Blasts APC, Resigns Immediately

WARRI – In a blistering departure that has sent shockwaves through Delta State politics, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, KSJI, former Deputy President of the 9th Senate and Obarisi of Urhoboland, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) effective immediately – vowing not to remain a “sitting duck” any longer.

The influential chieftain delivered his resignation in a letter dated 22 May 2026 to the Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North LGA a copy of which was made available to newsmen by Sunday Areh, his Media Adviser.

He said that after reviewing recent developments within the APC in Delta State and consulting with his associates and supporters, it became unmistakably clear that “his political objectives and those of his constituents are better served outside the party.”

In a characteristically blunt statement, Omo-Agege unloaded:

“I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria.”

The former Deputy Senate President, however, struck a measured tone when looking back, saying: “I thank the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate.

“I wish the party well and have requested that my name be removed from all membership records, registers, and communication lists.”

Senator Omo-Agege made it clear his work is far from over, affirming that “his focus remains on delivering development and effective representation for Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria” – goals he will now pursue outside the APC

Political observers are already asking: Where next for the Obarisi? With the 2027 election cycle looming, his exit could signal a major realignment in Delta’s volatile political landscape.

No new party affiliation has been announced – but his resignation letter leaves little doubt: the sitting duck has flown the coop.
