Reps Race: ‘Me, Backed Down? No Way’ – Mulade Fumes

WARRI — The campaign team of Chief Sheriff Mulade has dismissed as “fabricated and misleading” a social media statement that falsely claimed the politician had conceded defeat and endorsed another aspirant in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election for the Warri Federal Constituency.

In a strongly worded rebuttal issued on Tuesday, Comrade Friday Ugedi, Director of Media and Publicity for the Mulade Campaign Organisation, described the circulating statement as “fake, fraudulent and concocted” — the work of desperate individuals rattled by what the campaign called an “overwhelming, massive and landslide victory” for Chief Mulade.

“The authors of this malicious publication are political merchants of falsehood whose only objective is to create confusion, mislead party faithful and manipulate public perception after suffering a humiliating rejection by delegates across the Warri Federal Constituency,” the statement read.

For the avoidance of doubt, Comrade Ugedi confirmed that Chief Mulade “remains firmly in the race” and is the duly elected winner of the NDC primary. At no point, the campaign insisted, did Mulade issue any statement conceding defeat, stepping down or endorsing any other aspirant.

According to the campaign, those behind the misinformation campaign are threatened by the “unprecedented support” enjoyed by Mulade among party members, delegates, youths, women and stakeholders across Warri North, Warri South and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.

“It is unfortunate that instead of accepting the reality of the outcome of the primary election, certain disgruntled elements have resorted to forgery, propaganda and the dissemination of fake statements in a futile attempt to overturn the will of the people,” the statement added.

The campaign urged members of the public, party faithful and the media to disregard the fabricated statement entirely, stressing that it did not emanate from Chief Sheriff Mulade nor represent his position.

“No amount of blackmail, misinformation, forgery or political desperation can overturn the mandate freely given to Chief Sheriff Mulade by delegates of the Warri Federal Constituency,” the statement concluded. “The victory remains intact, the mandate remains valid, and the aspiration remains on course.”
