How Four Corps Members, Soldier Perished In Adamawa Auto Crash

YOLA — Six people, including four members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and a military personnel, have been burnt to death following a horrific head-on collision in Adamawa State.

The crash occurred on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at approximately 1:50 pm along the Narehi area of the Girei-Song Local Government Area.

According to a statement released on Wednesday night by the Adamawa State Police Command spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, the incident involved a military gun truck travelling from Gombi towards Yola and a commercial Hummer bus carrying five passengers from Yola to Mubi.

“Preliminary findings reveal that both vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, resulting in the commercial bus flipping over and bursting into flames,” the statement read.

“Tragically, all five passengers aboard the Hummer bus were burnt to death after the vehicle caught fire following the collision.”

Preliminary identification has confirmed that four of the deceased were corps members posted to Adamawa State.

They have been named as Suleuman Juliet, Usman Shuaibu – both indigenes of Kaduna State – and Hafsat Hassan. The remaining victims have yet to be identified, police said.

Authorities also confirmed that one soldier attached to the military vehicle lost his life in the crash.

Police operatives, alongside other emergency responders, arrived promptly at the scene.

The corpses have been evacuated to the Specialist Hospital in Yola, where efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining bodies and contact their families.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the NYSC, and all those affected by the tragic incident.
