‎Maintenance: TCN Announces Power Outage Across Five States

Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting

THE Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned electricity disruption affecting parts of Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Bauchi, and Yobe States, as well as Gazaoua in the Niger Republic.

‎The outage, scheduled for Sunday, is necessary for maintenance at the Kumbotos 330-kilovolt transmission substation, according to a statement issued on Saturday by TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah.

‎The work involves upgrading 330kV bus II jumpers and replacing existing 350mm² conductors with 800mm² conductors to strengthen the transmission network and improve power reliability.

‎As a result, customers served by Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC), and Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) will experience disruption.

The statement noted that some parts of Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) will also be affected.

‎Specifically, the blackout will impact customers in Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States, as well as Azare in Bauchi State, Nguru in Yobe State, and Gazaoua in the Niger Republic.

‎TCN assured that the maintenance is essential for long-term network stability and that normal supply will be restored upon completion of the work.
