The young Nigerian side had already put one foot in the tournament with a 3-2 victory over the Young Amazons in the first leg at Ikenne, Ogun State. Saturday’s result ensured there would be no slip-up as Nigeria claimed one of Africa’s tickets for the competition scheduled to take place later this year.
The Flamingos’ qualification continues Nigeria’s proud tradition in age-grade women’s football, with the team now set to compete against the world’s best at the tournament in Morocco.
Further details regarding the team’s preparations and group stage opponents will be confirmed in the coming weeks as the draw for the World Cup approaches.
