The harrowing aftermath of the murder of Favour Agbro has taken a disturbing turn, with mental health experts and family members voicing grave concerns over the psychological state of her twin sister, Faith.
Comrade Israel Joe, a rights and community advocate, has issued an urgent plea for intervention after witnessing what he described as “terrifying and unnatural” behaviour from the grieving sibling.
”Despite all my years of advocacy and community service, I have never seen this type of anger manifested in a grave silence of this nature,” Mr Joe wrote on his Facebook page in an emotional briefing. “The unspoken rage in the eyes of Favour’s twin sister was something else entirely.”
According to Mr Joe, during the parade of the suspect popularly called the “Odogwu of Asaba,” Faith has remained virtually mute since her sister’s burial nearly three weeks ago.
However, her physical state has told a story of profound anguish. “She never spoke a word, but you needed to see how swollen her eyes, face, and body were. I whispered to my comrades and then to her parents that this girl needs proper therapy and round-the-clock supervision.”
The only utterance Faith has made since the tragedy came after her first period of sleep following the funeral. Mr Joe revealed: “The only thing she said before she left was that her twin sister Favour appeared to her in a dream and commanded her to avenge her death.”
The revelation has sparked alarm among those close to the family, who fear the young woman may be teetering on the edge of a breakdown or, worse, contemplating vigilante action.
The atmosphere in the Agbro household shifted dramatically this morning, however, when news broke that the prime suspect, identified locally as the ‘Odogwu of Asaba’, had been apprehended by police.
For the first time since Favour was laid to rest, her mother emerged from her room to bathe. “She told me she only felt a sense of relief when I called the father early this morning to tell them that Odogwu of Asaba had been arrested and that they needed to come to the station,” Mr Joe recounted.
While the arrest has brought a fragile sense of justice closer to the family, Mr Joe has reiterated his dire warning to authorities and relatives alike.
”I reiterate again… Faith Agbro, the twin sister of Favour, must be properly given a close watch. Her mental state is fragile, and the dream she recounted is a clear cry for help. She cannot be left alone with her grief and this dangerous fixation on retribution.”
Police have confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with enquiries.
Meanwhile, the Agbro family remains under the care of community leaders and counsellors, who are working to prevent further tragedy in the wake of an already devastating loss.
