THE distraught wife of a missing Ibadan man has made an emotional public appeal, revealing that her husband chose to return to Nigeria because he believed “no place like home”.
Olajumoke Oluwatobi Arije is desperately seeking information about her husband, Arije Ajibola, who was last seen on the morning of August 7, 2026, at approximately 7:27a.m in the Dikat/Ajeigbe area of Ibadan.
In a heartfelt post on her Facebook timeline on Sunday, which marked the third day of his disappearance, Mrs Arije shared the family’s anguish.
“My husband believed so much in this country. He said no place like home. I begged him to let us stay back, but he insisted. I followed him back home, and he chose Ibadan. My husband said Ibadan is peaceful and safe,” she wrote.
Describing her missing husband as a “gentle and calm” man, she made a direct plea to the residents of Ibadan: “Please help me look for my husband. Esanu mi.”
The circumstances surrounding Mr Ajibola’s disappearance are deeply troubling. He was reportedly driving his gold Nissan Primera to work and had told his colleagues he would be at the office within 30 minutes.
However, he never arrived, and his mobile phones have been switched off since his disappearance.
The mystery deepened significantly on the second day when his vehicle was discovered parked at UMC Oke-Ado in Ibadan.
In a baffling twist, the car key was reportedly left inside the vehicle.
Adding to the family’s distress, no one has come forward with information about how the car got there or who dropped it off, leaving the family and authorities with more questions than answers.
“Please, if you have any information, you can share it even if you want to be anonymous. Kindly reach out,” Mrs Arije pleaded.
The Oyo State Police Command has been contacted, and investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information that could help locate Arije Ajibola is urged to contact the family immediately on 08078895911.
