THE Police Service Commission (PSC) has dispatched a high-level delegation to Osun State to oversee the conduct of Police personnel during Saturday’s crucial governorship election, vowing to sanction any officer found compromising the electoral process.
The monitoring team, led by retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Dr Taiwo Lakanu, a Board Member and Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters, will observe officers’ performance across the state throughout the electoral cycle.
Safeguarding Electoral Integrity
According to a statement issued by the Commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr Torty Njoku Kalu, the delegation will ensure that all deployed officers adhere strictly to the guiding principles governing election duties and uphold the highest standards of discipline and professionalism before, during, and after the polls.
The PSC said it is committed to deepening public confidence in the electoral process by guaranteeing that police conduct remains impartial, rule-based, and civil at all times.
Stern Warning to Officers
The Commission has issued a clear directive to all Police personnel assigned to Osun State for the election, urging them to display exemplary conduct, remain apolitical, and protect the rights of all citizens to vote freely and peacefully.
In a firm statement, the PSC reassured Nigerians that it would not hesitate to take decisive action against any officer found compromising the credibility of the election.
