THE Resident Bishop of the United Methodist Church Nigeria Episcopal Area, Dr Ande Emmanuel, has disbursed 48 motorcycles to District Superintendents across the nation’s five Annual Conferences.
The initiative directly addresses the significant transportation challenges faced by leaders serving in remote rural areas and difficult terrains, aiming to enhance their ability to reach communities and advance the church’s mission.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony, Bishop Ande urged the superintendents to view the motorcycles not as personal assets but as vital missionary tools for establishing churches, winning souls and furthering the United Methodist Church’s objectives.
“Conquer the lands under you for the United Methodist Church, planting churches and winning souls,” he urged.
Representatives from various Annual Conferences, including Rev. Markus D. Jauro of the South West Nigeria Annual Conference, Rev. Hassana Raymond of the Central Nigeria Annual Conference, Rev. Antiya Ishaya of the Northern Nigeria Annual Conference, and Rev. Monday Marwa of the North East Nigeria Annual Conference, conveyed their profound gratitude.
They highlighted how the motorcycles would alleviate the burden of travel and enable more effective ministry in areas previously difficult to access by conventional vehicles.
Also speaking, the Dean of Cabinet for the Nigeria Episcopal Area, Rev. Eli S. Sule, lauded the distribution as a timely response to a critical mission need, emphasising the importance of demonstrable progress in the districts as a result of this new mobility.
This investment signifies a renewed commitment to grassroots ministry, aiming for stronger evangelism, expanded mission engagement, and a more robust presence of the United Methodist Church throughout Nigeria.
