NIGERIA has stayed above its OPEC target for the third month running, according to fresh figures from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
For July 2026, the country pumped 1.505 million barrels per day of crude oil, plus an additional 170,000 barrels per day of condensate. That puts total liquids output at 1.67 million barrels per day, comfortably above the 1.5 million bpd benchmark set by OPEC.
Output during the month swung between a high of 1.78 million bpd and a low of 1.57 million bpd for crude and condensate combined.
However, despite meeting the quota, production slipped compared with June, with a month-on-month drop of 4 per cent.
In a press statement issued by Eniola Akinkuotu, Head of Corporate Communications and Information at NUPRC, the commission said the dip was driven by operational setbacks at the Erha and Akpo fields. Those issues weighed on volumes and were the main reason for the overall decline in national production for July.
The regulator noted that most other producing assets held steady through the period. Operators at those fields rolled out steps to maintain efficiency and limit the effect of the constraints elsewhere.
