POPULAR Nigerian gospel minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, known to fans across the world as Toluwanisings, has died at his home in Ibadan. He was in his early forties.

His family confirmed the news in a statement posted on his verified Instagram page on Wednesday night, announcing that the singer passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, 14 October 2026.

The statement read: “With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM), who passed away in the early hours of 14 October 2026.

“A dearly loved husband, family member, and gospel minister. Please keep his wife, family, and loved ones in your prayers during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.”

Earlier on Wednesday, concern had grown over the singer’s health after reports emerged that he had slumped at his residence in Ibadan after complaining of tiredness.

The collapse is said to have occurred just hours after he ministered at “In His Presence,” a monthly worship programme hosted by fellow gospel artiste Bidemi Olaoba in Ibadan on Tuesday night.

His death comes only months after he was involved in a road accident with his band members while returning from a ministration — an incident from which he was understood to have been recovering.

Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues and fans, including lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi and comedian Woli Agba, who had earlier appealed to the public for prayers over the singer’s condition.

Toluwanisings was best known for his powerful worship ministrations and had built a devoted following both in Nigeria and among the diaspora.

He recently celebrated the completion of a new home, expressing gratitude to God.

He is survived by his wife and family.
