A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State to immediately cease presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial election scheduled for 16 January 2027.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the order on Thursday after ruling that Mr Uzodimma did not win the May 18 primary election conducted by the APC and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Delivering judgment, the judge held that evidence presented before the court proved that former governor Rochas Okorocha actually won the majority of votes cast at the poll and should be declared the winner.
Justice Egwuatu subsequently ordered the APC to forward Mr Okorocha’s name as the party’s candidate for the Imo West Senatorial election in the 2027 general elections.
More details later.
