FROM my observation, some universities in Nigeria are currently starting a new session.
If you have just gained admission to a university in Nigeria, let’s talk.
This first year is very important in your academic journey. Build a strong foundation.
On this journey, you need guidance. Seek guidance; seek help in the right place.
There are moments you will feel overwhelmed and discouraged. There may be moments when you will feel like packing your load and return home. Do not give in to such feelings.
Persevere.
In your department or faculty, locate a clear headed ‘senior ‘ who can walk you through this phase. Ask questions when you need to, do not keep quiet. There is wisdom in submitting to those who have walked this path before you; they will show you the way.
Follow a good company; remember that evil communication corrupts good manners.
Have a definite goal. Write it out and pursue it.
In all, let God be at the centre of your pursuit. He has the power to do all things.
