A pastor based in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, has publicly recounted how his pursuit of wealth through ritual practices in his younger years allegedly yielded temporary prosperity before culminating in a road accident that cost him a leg.
Pastor Joel Adedeji, also known as Pastor Joel Olasunkanmi Adedeji, made the disclosure during an interview with BBC Yoruba, which was widely circulated online on 30 October 2026.
According to his account, he consulted a herbalist roughly three decades ago while seeking a financial breakthrough.
Adedeji said the herbalist instructed him to find a woman he found attractive, engage in sexual intercourse with her, and afterwards use a piece of cloth to wipe her private parts.
He claimed he followed the instruction and subsequently began experiencing financial prosperity.
“The baba said I should look for someone I like and have intercourse with her and use a cloth to clean her private part once I am done. After I did that, truly money came, honestly, then he asked me to bring more,” he told BBC Yoruba.
The cleric further disclosed that the herbalist later warned him he would never be able to use the money to purchase a car or build a house . He said he enjoyed the wealth for approximately four to five years before his fortunes took a dramatic turn.
Recounting the accident that led to the amputation, Adedeji explained that the vehicle which struck him belonged to him, but was being driven by an individual to whom he had lent money to purchase the car . He said the incident occurred on 26 May 2001, and he woke up in hospital the following day to discover his leg had been amputated.

“Before I knew it, I got hit and landed in the hospital, and before I woke up the next day, my leg had been amputated,” he recounted.
Now a pastor, Adedeji used his experience to advise young people against seeking quick wealth through questionable means. He urged the youth to be patient with life, stressing that what is destined for them will never pass them by.
It is understood that his account has not been independently verified, and no connection between the alleged ritual practices and the accident has been established beyond his own testimony.
