Recently, I went to a bank in Ibadan. While the banker was attending to me, there was a kind of delay due to network issues. Then the banker decided to engage me in a conversation.
He said, “What do you do?” I responded calmly, “I am a teacher.”
“That’s great. So you train the next generation?” he continued.
“Yes, I impact people. I mould lives,” I quipped.
The conversation continued but then the man said something that I cannot forget.
He said, “My teachers contributed to who I am today. I still remember the words and counsel of my teachers.
“I still relate with the good teachers that made positive impacts in my life. For those that spoke negatively, I don’t have anything to do with them again.”
At the end of the conversation, he said to me: ‘Thank you for building the next generation. God bless you.”
I was touched. I was moved. I was honoured.
Dear teacher, God sees your efforts; people see too. Your labour of love is not in vain. Keep up the good work.
God bless you.
