ONCE in a while I remember my experience as a private school teacher and I smile.
I remember how the proprietress of a private school I worked in would start throwing tantrums at the end of the month, whenever it was time to pay salary.
At such time, you would have to avoid her. She would find every opportunity to vent her anger on any teacher that crosses her path.
We all understood the game. When it’s around the time to pay salary, avoid the proprietress. If you don’t, you will be a scapegoat.
At such times, you would think we had not worked for the money she wanted to pay.
Many private school owners in Nigeria really need to do better. The way they treat teachers should be looked into.
Teaching is a noble profession and teachers should be highly respected and treated well.
Teachers are custodians of life, we mould lives, we build people, we transform generations.
Dear teacher, even if the society does not acknowledge your effort, keep doing that great work.
Keep moulding lives.
Keep building lives.
The next generation is looking up to you; don’t fail them.
Don’t fail God.
Happy Teachers’ Day.
