ASABA — The Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has decorated 457 officers who were recently promoted from the rank of Police Constable to Corporal.
The ceremony took place at the Command Headquarters in Asaba and was attended by members of the Command Management Team alongside other senior officers.
Addressing the newly promoted Corporals, CP Oyeniyi described the advancement as a well-deserved recognition of their dedication, discipline, loyalty and commitment to duty.
He stressed that promotion represents a significant milestone in any police officer’s career and serves as a testament to the confidence placed in them by the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
However, the Commissioner cautioned that elevation in rank brings with it greater responsibilities and higher expectations. He charged the officers to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties, to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and discipline, and to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the Force.
CP Oyeniyi, who holds the designations psc, acipm and mnips, further urged the officers to remain committed to the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM. He emphasised the need for officers to respect the rights of citizens, deepen community engagement, and maintain public trust and confidence as they carry out their duties.
The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to personnel development, welfare and merit-based career progression, noting that hard work, dedication and exemplary conduct remain essential ingredients for advancement within the Nigeria Police Force.
