THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretary for Delta State, Barr. Cleric Alaowei, Esq., has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely intervention in defusing rising tensions within the Warri Federal Constituency over the contentious Supreme Court-ordered ward delineation.
In a statement issued today, the State Secretary also extended commendations to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, lauding both leaders for their swift responses in averting what could have escalated into a full-blown ethnic conflict involving the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo communities.
Mr Alaowei particularly applauded the peaceful conduct of ethnic leaders from the three groups, despite what he described as “provocative and divisive remarks” from crisis merchants seeking to exploit the ward delineation dispute to instigate another fratricidal conflict in the state.
“As Deltans, we are one people,” the PDP Secretary stated. “We need one another to advance our common cause. Our major challenge as a people is the lack of even development despite our abundant natural resources.”
The PDP leadership called on all ethnic groups within the Federal Constituency, and indeed all Deltans, to remain law-abiding and channel their energies towards electing candidates who will deliver tangible democratic dividends.
“We deserve better treatment, and our power to demand good governance lies in the ballot,” Mr Alaowei emphasised.

The State Secretary urged all ethnic stakeholders to accept President Tinubu’s olive branch, stressing that the region’s growth and development depend on unity and the ability to present a common front.
“We are pleased that stakeholders did not allow history to repeat itself,” he said. “We appeal to ethnic leaders not to take any actions that could undermine the President’s efforts. Now, more than ever, we must show brotherly love to one another.”
Concluding his remarks, Mr Alaowei declared: “Our strength lies in our unity, and our unity is the surest path to development.”
