THE Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer for the Nigeria Police Force.
CSP Iniedu, a native of Etinan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, brings a wealth of experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management and institutional accountability to the role.
The seasoned officer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo and has completed numerous professional training programmes in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication and intelligence analysis.
His appointment comes at a pivotal time as the Force continues its reform agenda, with the IGP expressing confidence in the new PRO’s capacity to lead the department’s strategic communication efforts.
Prior to his latest posting, CSP Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit at Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and championed initiatives designed to strengthen transparency, accountability and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
His extensive career has seen him hold several key positions across the country, including Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe State Command, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, and Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters.
He also served as Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa and as Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he supervised the coordination and dissemination of crime and security information nationwide.
CSP Iniedu previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State, amongst several other operational and administrative appointments.
The Inspector-General noted that the new PRO’s experience and professional background would further enhance the Force’s engagement with the public and media stakeholders in support of ongoing policing reforms and operational successes.
