The suspect made the confession when the Ogun State Police Command paraded three suspects on Thursday following a breakthrough investigation that included forensic analysis of a handwritten note left at the crime scene.

The 22-year-old suspect, who once worked as a security guard in the deceased’s employ, admitted recruiting two accomplices, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, to participate in the attack on Saturday, 20th June 2026.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, disclosed the development during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, where he provided an update on the investigation into the murder of Madam Oyesiku and her guard, Pelumi Adetayo, aged 38.

According to the CP, a report was received on 21st June 2026 at about 4pm regarding suspicious circumstances at the deceased’s residence in Owode-Egba.

Police detectives who responded discovered Adetayo’s lifeless body inside the security house, while Madam Oyesiku’s body was found lying in a pool of blood in the living room of the main building.

A Lexus RX 330 vehicle belonging to the deceased was also reported missing.

Acting on credible intelligence and technical tracking analysis, operatives successfully traced and recovered the missing vehicle on 22nd June at Onikolobo area of Ogun State.

Although the ignition key had been removed and registration plates detached, detectives recovered the plate concealed underneath one of the seats, enabling positive identification.

A critical breakthrough came through forensic examination of a handwritten note recovered from the scene, which generated valuable leads that significantly aided detectives in identifying those responsible.

Further intelligence gathering led to the arrest of the principal suspect on 24th June at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.

Follow-up operations led to the arrest of the two accomplices.

During interrogation, Sodeinde made a confessional statement, admitting his involvement and disclosing that he had recruited the others.

According to his statement, the attack followed grievances with the deceased during his employment as a security guard.

The suspects first overpowered the security guard, using him to gain access to the residence, before attacking Madam Oyesiku and subsequently murdering the guard. After committing the crime, they fled with the vehicle.

Following the confessions, detectives conducted searches at locations linked to the suspects, recovering a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, a black pen, and other relevant exhibits.

The Ogun State Police Command emphasised that while substantial evidence has been recovered, all suspects remain entitled to due process under the law. Investigation is ongoing to consolidate all available evidence and ensure diligent prosecution.

“The Command remains committed to ensuring that justice is served and that all persons connected with this heinous crime are brought to book,” CP Ojajuni stated.
