Adeboye Praises Trump as ‘Best Politician I’ve Ever Met’

‎'Don't Marry Jobless Man, Lady Who Cannot Cook,' Adeboye Counsels Singles

PASTOR Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has heaped praise on United States President Donald Trump, describing him as a man of his word and “the best politician” he has ever encountered.

Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington on June 23, the respected cleric thanked God for the American leader.

“Thank God for Trump,” Pastor Adeboye declared.

The RCCG leader recounted a moment last November when President Trump had reportedly threatened to bomb Nigeria, prompting him to intervene.

“You see, there is something wonderful about bombing. The only problem with it is that no matter how accurate your bomb may be, some innocent people will suffer. And I think he meant to bomb us several times,” Adeboye explained.

“So again, I had to speak in November, on the first Friday of November last year. I announced publicly that the government must do something quickly. I said to them: ‘I have never met Trump, but I have followed him, and I like him.'”

The clergyman clarified that his admiration did not mean he agreed with all of the President’s methods, but he commended Trump’s candour.

“What I like about him is this: one, he tells the truth. He is the best politician I have ever met,” Adeboye said.

The RCCG Overseer revealed that he had shared similar sentiments with the US Ambassador during a visit to his home. When the envoy asked his opinion of Trump, Adeboye responded: “I like him,” adding that the President “is doing what he promised you he would do.”

Addressing the audience, Pastor Adeboye offered a wry observation about the nature of politics.

“To be a good politician, you must be able to say two things from the same mouth. That is what makes you a professional politician,” he said.

“And I like him (Trump) because, when he says: ‘I want to do this,’ you had better get ready. Many times, he would even have done what he was going to do before telling you.”

The RCCG leader disclosed that he had held similar conversations with President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who is also an RCCG pastor. He said he advised President Tinubu to contact his US counterpart and provide assurance of Nigeria’s commitment to counter-terrorism efforts.

Adeboye’s remarks have generated significant attention across political and religious circles, coming at a time of heightened diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and the United States.
