THE Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has undertaken a strategic security visit to Oghara, underscoring the command’s commitment to community policing and robust stakeholder engagement.
On Monday, CP Oyeniyi paid a courtesy call on the Uku Oghara Na’me, His Royal Majesty Noble Oyibo Eshemitan, before convening a high-level security meeting with critical stakeholders in Ethiope West Local Government Area.
The visit aligns with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu’s directive to deepen collaboration with traditional institutions as a cornerstone of effective policing.
During the palace visit, the Commissioner commended the Monarch for his leadership in fostering peace and harmonious coexistence.
Assessing the area’s security landscape, CP Oyeniyi noted that while Oghara remains largely peaceful, isolated incidents of kidnapping and cultism persist.
He called for sustained intelligence sharing, stressing that criminal elements are the common enemy of the community.
“We must adopt a collective approach to preserve the peace we enjoy. The Police are committed to being professional and proactive, but we rely on the support of our traditional leaders and the public,” CP Oyeniyi stated.
In response, the royal father lauded the CP as a competent and purposeful leader, reaffirming the kingdom’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Police in safeguarding lives and property.
The subsequent stakeholders’ meeting, which included the Chairman of Ethiope West LGA, Hon. (Pst.) Christian O. Onogba, youth leaders, and representatives of the Arewa community, focused on the escalating challenges of drug abuse, cultism, and kidnapping.

Participants pledged to bolster cooperation through timely intelligence sharing, protection of informants, and stronger synergy with the judiciary to ensure the effective prosecution of suspects.
CP Oyeniyi assured the gathering that the Delta State Command would continue to strengthen strategic partnerships to combat crime, reaffirming the vision of a people-centred police force.
The Council Chairman echoed this sentiment, reiterating the Local Government’s readiness to support the command’s efforts for a safer Ethiope West.
