‘I Can Kidnap Governors,’ Terrorists’ Leader Boasts

Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting

A notorious terrorists leader, Kachalla Maha, has threatened to intensify attacks in Katsina State and claimed he has the capacity to abduct serving governors, while also alleging that he has access to confidential security intelligence ahead of military operations.

The threats were contained in an audio recording that surfaced on Sunday and was shared on X by a verified user, Abdool Moh.

In the recording, Maha accused the authorities of refusing to release his arrested associates and confiscated cattle, insisting that the government’s actions had forced him to escalate violence.

According to the terror leader, repeated appeals for the release of his men were ignored, leaving him determined to continue attacks.

“You arrested my men, and I asked for their release. You refused. I promised that I would abduct many people, and I already have targets,” he said.

He further alleged that security personnel had continued to kill his cattle and destroy property.

“Security personnel keep killing our cows. The government does not want us to live in peace. What is the point of burning our houses?

“We have tried to reach agreements with people in the area, but it is not helping because the government is not listening to our complaints or to those trying to advise them,” Maha claimed.

The terrorists leader warned that farming activities across several local government areas in Katsina could be disrupted if his demands were not met.

“If my cows are not released, I swear to God that people will not be able to farm in these local government areas. Call me a bastard if I fail,” he declared.

He added that he would not relent regardless of the scale of military operations against his group.

“I don’t care if they send thousands of soldiers. I am not tired, and I will not stop until I leave this world,” he said.

In one of the most alarming sections of the recording, Maha claimed that some security personnel secretly collaborate with him by leaking operational information before military offensives.

“I swear to Almighty God that all the security forces sent to attack my camp are my boys. They inform me whenever they are coming. I receive information about security strategies, including those involving the President,” he alleged.

He further claimed that he possessed evidence to support his allegations but had chosen not to make it public.

“I do not like betraying people. If I wanted to, I could release voice recordings and other evidence to prove what I am saying.

“The way some of them listen to me is even more than the way they listen to their superiors. I have the ability to kidnap even a governor,” he claimed.

The remarks have heightened concerns over possible intelligence leaks within security agencies operating in Nigeria’s North-West, where banditry continues to pose a serious security challenge despite sustained military offensives.

Maha also referred to the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who died while in bandits’ captivity in June 2026, claiming he only agreed to release the late officer’s body out of respect for the individual conducting the interview.

“If not because of you, I wouldn’t have released the corpse,” he alleged.

As of the time of filing this report, Nigerian security agencies had not publicly responded to Maha’s claims.
