CHEVRON Nigeria Limited (CNL) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPCL) subsidiary, NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC), have signed a Network Entry Agreement (NEA) to govern gas delivery operations from the Escravos Gas Plant into the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System.
The agreement, announced on Monday, establishes the contractual framework required under the Nigerian Gas Transportation Network Code to regulate gas delivery operations and information exchange between CNL’s Escravos Gas Plant and NGIC’s pipeline network.

CNL said the agreement is designed to ensure the safe, efficient and reliable transportation of gas while strengthening the interface between the company’s facilities and Nigeria’s national gas transportation infrastructure.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman and Managing Director of CNL, Jim Swartz, said the agreement demonstrates the commitment of the NNPCL/CNL Joint Venture to delivering gas safely and reliably in support of Nigeria’s energy aspirations.
He said, “By strengthening the interface between CNL’s Escravos Gas Plant and NGIC’s transportation network, we are helping to enhance energy security, infrastructure efficiency and long-term value creation for Nigeria.”
Also commenting, CNL’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Olusoga Oduselu, said the establishment of a uniform Network Entry Agreement framework places Nigeria among countries operating central gas pipeline transportation systems under a standardised contractual regime governing gas injection and offtake.
According to him, the framework reinforces the role of NGIC as the national gas network operator while ensuring that delivery facility operators such as CNL maintain the safety, integrity and operational efficiency of the country’s gas transportation network.
Oduselu noted that the agreement provides a common framework for gas injection and offtake, ensuring that gas entering the national pipeline system complies with established operational and safety standards.
The Network Entry Agreement is expected to support Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to expand gas utilisation, improve energy security and enhance the efficiency of its gas transportation infrastructure.
