THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recognised 20 members of its workforce in Anambra State with Meritorious Awards for exemplary service and dedication to duty, in a bid to promote excellence and boost staff morale.
The awards were presented on Thursday at the Commission’s state headquarters in Awka by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Anambra State, Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu, on behalf of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN.
Dr Agwu, assisted by the Administrative Secretary, Mr Kenneth Obianyi, and members of the management team, said the recognition fulfilled a pledge made by the Commission’s Chairman during a pre-election interactive session with staff ahead of the November 8, 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election – namely, to reward diligence, dedication and outstanding performance.
The recipients comprised five Electoral Officers and 15 Assistant Electoral Officers, drawn from the three senatorial districts of Anambra State, who had distinguished themselves in the discharge of their official responsibilities.
The REC described the awards as a clear demonstration of the Commission’s commitment to recognising excellence and fostering a culture of professionalism, integrity and accountability among its workforce. She urged the recipients not to rest on their laurels, noting that their dedication had contributed significantly to the Commission’s successes in Anambra State.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the INEC Chairman and the state management for the honour, describing the recognition as both motivating and inspiring. They pledged to remain steadfast in upholding the Commission’s core values of diligence, transparency, integrity and professionalism in the execution of their electoral duties.
The management and staff of INEC Anambra State also praised the Commission’s leadership for the initiative, expressing confidence that the merit-based reward system would further enhance staff productivity and strengthen public trust in the electoral process.
