WHEN students gain admission to higher institutions of learning, they are often full of hopes. Most new students have the desire to graduate with a Distinction or a First Class.
However, at the end of the first session many of them get the shocker of their lives.
A large percentage of them often perform below expectations.
Just a few end up starting on a strong note.
For some, they are able to rectify their errors in subsequent levels but quite a number end up with low grades eventually.
One of the major things that affect fresh university students is the strength of the foundation they had before university. While some had solid foundations, some had their foundations patched up.
And… ‘when the foundation is destroyed, what shall the righteous do?’
When it comes to academics, a strong foundation should not be compromised.
Whatever is compromised will eventually become a problem in the future.
Many fresh university students struggle due to their faulty foundations.
Some of them struggle to write a paragraph without grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
Some of them cannot write a compound sentence without serious errors. They can only write simple elementary sentences.
It is that pathetic.
Dear parents and guardians, please give your child a solid academic foundation. It will save you troubles and headaches in the future.
