KIAGBODO — Tragedy has struck the quiet community of Kiagbodo in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, where two brothers were crushed to death by a tipper truck while enjoying drinks at a palm wine joint.
The horrific incident unfolded along Erhuwaren Road when the heavy vehicle suddenly veered off the carriageway and ploughed into the establishment where the siblings had stopped for refreshment.
According to sources, the deceased—whose identities have yet to be officially released—had moments earlier inspected an ongoing electrification project at the Technical College in Kiagbodo.
One of the brothers had reportedly secured the contract to electrify the institution and had invited his sibling to join him in executing the works.
After completing their site inspection, the pair settled down at the local palm wine joint for a drink when the out-of-control tipper left the roadway and rammed into them with devastating force.
Eyewitnesses, who could scarcely believe the pair had perished, rushed their lifeless bodies to the Federal Medical Centre in Ovwian.
However, both men were tragically confirmed dead upon arrival.
When journalists visited the scene on Thursday, 13 August 2026, the tipper remained at the crash site, a grim reminder of the tragedy that had unfolded.
The once-bustling palm wine joint stood deserted, with no one present to offer further details on the appalling accident that claimed two lives in an instant.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and stated that fuller details would be made available in due course.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
