2027: Opposition Lawmakers Unite Under G100 to ‘Dislodge APC from Power’

ABUJA — Eminent Nigerians under the umbrella of G100 have called on all Presidential Candidates of leading political parties, opposition leaders, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders to join forces and dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the nation’s seat of power ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group made the call at a press conference organised by the Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives at the National Assembly, where they lamented that Nigerians are suffering under the current administration and deserve a more humane government.

The G100 is comprised of lawmakers from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Accord Party, Labour Party (LP), and other prominent Nigerians.

‘We Need a Strong and Virile Opposition’

Leader of the Caucus, Hon. Fred Agbedi, disclosed that the group had already met with Presidential Candidates and other leaders of the opposition parties to convey their concerns. He made it clear that the only way to upstage President Bola Tinubu during the polls is for the opposition to come together and work harmoniously.

“We need a strong and virile opposition. We cannot achieve this without the corrective efforts of party leaders, individuals, and other stakeholders. Whatever we need to do to deliver Nigerians as an opposition, we will do,” Agbedi declared.

The group acknowledged that the opposition parties, as presently constituted, appear fragmented and lack the unity of purpose required to dislodge the ruling APC from power.

‘An Organic Initiative for Victory’

The Caucus described the G100 as an organic initiative that will guarantee victory for the opposition parties during the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that they are ready to get it right this time.

The lawmakers stressed that the coalition represents a broad spectrum of political interests united by a common goal: to offer Nigerians an alternative to the APC-led government, which they argued has failed to address the nation’s pressing challenges.

The press conference signals a significant step towards opposition consolidation, with the G100 positioning itself as a formidable coalition determined to challenge the ruling party’s hold on power in the upcoming electoral cycle.
