ASABA — The Delta State Government has approved the conversion of Model Technical College, Omadino, into the Omadino campus of Federal Polytechnic Orogun, with immediate effect.
In a circular dated 18 August 2026, addressed to the Principal of the college, the Ministry of Technical Education directed all teaching and non-teaching staff to relocate and assume duties at Model Technical College, Oghareki, for the 2026/27 academic session.
The directive, signed by Ufuoma Idiegbe, Director of the Standards and Quality Assurance (SQA) department on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, stated that the decision was authorised by the Governor.
The circular read: “I am directed to refer to the above subject and to inform you that His Excellency, The Governor has approved the conversion of Model Technical College, Omadino to Federal Polytechnic Orogun, Omadino campus.”
It further instructed the Principal to notify parents and guardians of both returning and prospective students about the development. Those interested in transferring their children or wards to Model Technical College, Oghareki, were asked to contact the Principal of the former Omadino college for documentation and admission processing.
The Ministry emphasised that the directive was for “information and strict compliance”.
No reason was given for the conversion, but the move is seen as part of the state government’s broader realignment of technical education institutions. The Federal Polytechnic Orogun now expands its footprint with the Omadino campus, while the Oghareki college is expected to absorb staff and students from the defunct Omadino site.
Parents and education stakeholders in Omadino have been urged to liaise with the college administration for further guidance ahead of the new academic session.
