THE African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally unveiled its full roster of governorship candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general elections, signalling the party’s intent to challenge for key executive seats across the federation.

The announcement was made public on Friday evening via a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, and posted on the ADC’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

As reported by Channels Television, the comprehensive list features a blend of seasoned political figures, former lawmakers, and prominent leaders. Among the most notable nominations is the ticket for Lagos State, which sees the 2023 Labour Party (LP) candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour paired with Gbadamosi Olalere as his running mate.

Further high-profile pairings include the nomination of former Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami for Kebbi State, who will run alongside Zagi Mohammed. In Delta State, businessman Great Ogboru has been selected as the party’s flagbearer, with Afiari Gloria as his deputy.

Other candidates announced include Herman Hembe (Benue State), Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita (Katsina State), Senator Halliru Dauda Jika (Bauchi State), and Manir Mohammad Daniya (Sokoto State). The ADC has also fielded candidates in states such as Rivers, where Gabriel Pidomson will contest, and Plateau, represented by Brig. Gen. John Sunday Sura (retd.).

The release of the candidates’ list marks a significant milestone in the ADC’s preparations for the 2027 cycle, as parties across Nigeria intensify their strategies ahead of the polls.
