Woman Collapses, Lands in Hospital After Discovering Her Husband Secretly Married a Second Wife

A woman in Ashaiman, Ghana, reportedly collapsed and was admitted to the hospital after discovering that her husband had secretly married a second wife without her knowledge.

According to reports, the husband spent the day at home with his first wife while the marriage ceremony to his second wife was taking place elsewhere. The first wife only learned about the marriage after it had been concluded, and the shock reportedly caused her to lose consciousness before she was rushed to the hospital.

The first wife remains hospitalized, while the second wife is said to be at home following the marriage ceremony.

The incident has sparked conversations about transparency in polygamous marriages, with calls for men intending to take additional wives to inform their spouses or involve respected family members beforehand to help reduce the emotional impact.

While acknowledging that polygamy remains a common practice in some Muslim communities, women were also encouraged to be mindful of the possibility of their husbands taking more than one wife.
