Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Unveils Tsion Electric Cars

PASTOR Chris Oyakhilome, founder and president of Christ Embassy, has unveiled a range of electric vehicles under the Tsion brand, marking the ministry’s entry into the automotive and technology sector.

The vehicles were unveiled during the New Economy Unveiling 2026, where Oyakhilome presented several models, including the Tsion Passion, Falcon series, Vision series, Vision Coupe and OG series.

The development has attracted attention because of the unusual expansion of a major Christian ministry into an industry outside its traditional evangelical activities.

During the presentation, Oyakhilome walked through the displayed vehicles and highlighted the different models, offering an insight into the scope of the Tsion project.

The initiative comes amid growing interest in electric mobility in Nigeria, as government and private-sector players explore alternatives to petrol- and diesel-powered transportation.

Electric vehicles are increasingly being considered as part of efforts to address fuel costs, emissions and the country’s dependence on petroleum-based transportation. However, the sector continues to face challenges, including inadequate charging infrastructure, high initial vehicle costs, limited local manufacturing capacity and concerns over reliable electricity supply.

The Tsion unveiling has also sparked discussions about the potential role of religious organisations and faith-based institutions in entrepreneurship, technology, innovation and economic development.

Reacting to the development, Pastor Bolaji Idowu, founder of Harvesters International Christian Centre, described the project as evidence of the church’s growing influence beyond the pulpit.

“My mind has been stretched. This is what it means to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world,” Idowu said.

He added: “We are not waiting for them to give us a solution. The church has come to its place; now they have no other option than to listen to us.

“We are not just preaching the gospel; we are demonstrating the ability of the Spirit, even in the marketplace.”

Despite the attention generated by the unveiling, several key details about the Tsion vehicles are yet to be publicly established.

These include battery capacity, driving range, charging technology, production facilities, pricing, after-sales support and the date for commercial availability.

Such details will be critical in determining whether Tsion can progress from a high-profile unveiling into a sustainable automotive venture capable of competing in Nigeria and potentially other African markets.

For Nigeria’s emerging electric vehicle industry, the arrival of another locally focused brand could raise expectations around technology transfer, job creation, local manufacturing and the development of supporting infrastructure.

The Tsion project therefore places Christ Embassy and Pastor Chris Oyakhilome at the intersection of faith, entrepreneurship and emerging technology, with its eventual production and commercial rollout likely to determine the project’s long-term impact.
