PORT HARCOURT — The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has recognised 78 members of staff with Long Service Awards, celebrating their dedication, loyalty, and contributions to the growth of the Commission and the sustainable development of the Niger Delta region.
The awards ceremony, held at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, was described by management as a celebration of institutional memory and commitment that has sustained the Commission through the years.
Speaking at the event, Managing Director Dr Samuel Ogbuku congratulated the awardees, reaffirming that staff welfare remains a top priority for both the Board and Management. Dr Ogbuku, who was represented by the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye, said the recipients’ years of service, mentorship, and resilience had been instrumental to the NDDC’s progress despite the myriad challenges facing the region.
He described the ceremony as an opportunity to celebrate dedication, loyalty, and commitment to service, noting that the awardees had not only devoted decades of their lives to the Commission but had also played a pivotal role in mentoring younger employees and tackling the difficulties confronting the NDDC.
“We are proud of you, the awardees. We celebrate your service, dedication, and achievements,” Dr Ogbuku said. “Each one of you has played a vital role in shaping our processes and success story. Today, we say thank you for giving your talents and time to the growth and development of the Niger Delta region.”
The Director of Administration and Human Resources, Sir Kelechi Nwelue, also commended the recipients for their distinguished service, stating that they had earned the recognition through years of excellence and unwavering commitment to the Commission’s mandate.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, the Director of Education, Health and Social Services, Dr Awele Chukwudifu, expressed gratitude to the Executive Management for the honour. She described the recognition as heartwarming and motivating, and pledged that it would inspire staff to remain focused on the Commission’s core mandate of facilitating sustainable development across the Niger Delta.
