THE Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has celebrated the episcopal consecration of Pastor Patience Museveni Rwabwogo as Bishop, describing the development as a significant milestone in the expansion of Christian leadership and gospel impact across Africa.
The consecration ceremony was held at Covenant Nations Church in Luzira, Kampala, Uganda, where RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, officiated the historic event.
Pastor Mrs Folu Adeboye performed the sacramental anointing, praying for Bishop Rwabwogo, her family, ministry and Covenant Nations Church as she assumed the new responsibility.
In his commissioning address, Pastor Adeboye charged the newly consecrated bishop to use her expanded leadership platform to advance the gospel through church planting, discipleship and leadership development.
“Promotion comes from the Lord,” Adeboye declared, while urging Bishop Rwabwogo to pursue a ministry marked by revival, transformation and the demonstration of God’s power.
He said her calling was not merely to maintain existing structures but to multiply churches, disciple leaders and contribute to the establishment of God’s kingdom in the present generation.
Bishop Rwabwogo, who founded Covenant Nations Church about 20 years ago as a small prayer gathering, has overseen its growth into an international evangelical ministry with congregations in Uganda and beyond.
Speaking after her consecration, she described the elevation as both an honour and a greater responsibility.
“I receive this calling with humility and gratitude. I am acutely aware that promotion from God brings enlarged responsibility and greater accountability before His throne,” she said.
Bishop Rwabwogo said she hoped her episcopal ministry would expand the church’s impact in discipleship, church planting and community transformation.
She added that the gospel should extend beyond the pulpit to influence education, healthcare, business, families and the wider conscience of nations.
The RCCG also used the occasion to reaffirm its position on women occupying senior leadership positions within the church, saying spiritual gifts and callings were not restricted by gender, generation or geography.
The church cited the biblical prophecy in Joel concerning the outpouring of God’s Spirit upon all flesh and the prophesying of sons and daughters, describing the development of women in apostolic and episcopal leadership as part of its vision for the African church.
The ceremony attracted prominent political and religious figures, including Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, Bishop Dr Moses Odongo and members of the NFBPC, evangelical leaders from across East Africa and international Christian leaders.
Bishop LaDonna Osborn was also listed among the international apostolic witnesses at the event, while worship was led by Israeli ministers Emmanuel Roro and Helen Yilma.
The consecration coincided with the 20th anniversary celebration of Covenant Nations Church, making the occasion a double milestone for the ministry founded by Bishop Rwabwogo.
The RCCG said the development represented part of a wider emergence of apostolic leadership across Africa and pledged to support Bishop Rwabwogo and other emerging leaders in advancing the gospel across the continent.
It expressed hope that her episcopal ministry would lead to increased church planting, discipleship, community transformation and the spread of the Christian faith across Africa and beyond.
