Delta Police Boss Visits Uvwie Monarch, Breaks Ground For New Area Command

THE Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, continued his familiarisation tour of police formations across the state on Tuesday with a visit to the Effurun Area Command, where he paid a courtesy call on the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Dr. Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I.

The CP commended the monarch for his steadfast commitment to peace, security, and community development, acknowledging the critical role of traditional institutions in supporting law enforcement.

He sought the kingdom’s continued partnership in strengthening intelligence gathering and promoting peaceful coexistence.

In response, the Ovie reaffirmed the kingdom’s backing for the Nigeria Police Force and urged residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.

Addressing officers, men, and stakeholders at the Area Command, Oyeniyi charged personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and integrity.

He warned that extortion, incivility to members of the public, and any form of unprofessional conduct would not be tolerated, stressing that respect for citizens’ fundamental rights remained non-negotiable.

He urged officers to embrace intelligence-led policing and ethical service delivery, noting that public trust was the bedrock of effective policing.

Earlier in the day, the Commissioner, representing the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, joined the Ovie, other traditional rulers, government officials, sister agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders at the groundbreaking ceremony for the permanent site of the Effurun Area Command.
